Adult
Day Services:
· Provides service and support to frail adults enabling them to
continue living in the community.
· Is a support system for caregiver families.
· Provides a program of activities to maintain or improve the level
of the participants functioning while meeting the physical, psychological,
social and spiritual needs of the adult person.
The purpose of day services is to develop and maintain a level of independence
to enable the participant to remain in his/her own home as long as possible.

To provide support and respite to caregiver families.
To provide a period of transition for those adults where admission to
a long term facility is necessary.
Frail adults who cannot for physical or social reasons participate in
existing community programs are admitted for therapeutic reasons.
Services
provided are

Activity programs
· Nursing care
· Bathing, foot care, general observation of health needs.
· Hot meal, nourishment
· Hair care available
· Family counselling
Applications may be obtained from and submitted to the Director of Client
Services.
Admission referrals are accepted from families, physicians, hospitals,
nursing homes, or community agencies.
Criteria
for admission is:

Initial assessments must be completed by medical, nursing, social and
other professionals.
· Must have a home caregiver.
· Limited social contacts.
· Physical limitations must be within abilities of program to meet
needs of participant.
· Must be able to benefit from day services.
· Must assume responsibility for transportation to and from the
nursing home.
· A memorandum of agreement for Day Services must be signed between
applicant (his/her family) and nursing home.
Hours of Service are 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m weekdays

Transit
Service is available at 8:30 a.m. and at 3:00 p.m. for residents and day
service clients.
Hearing clinic services and psychiatric services are available once a
month by appointment.
Dietary consultations are also available by appointment.
